Composite, cedar, and treated decking — with the railing, fasteners, and advice to put it all together.
A deck takes a beating in Minnesota — freeze-thaw, UV, foot traffic, the occasional snowblower. The material choice you make now determines how much maintenance you're doing in five years. We stock options across the full range so you're not locked into one answer.
The low-maintenance choice. Composite boards are engineered to hold up to moisture and UV without staining, painting, or sealing every few years. Available in a wide range of wood-look colors and profiles.
Cedar is a natural insect and decay-resistant wood with a warm appearance that weathers beautifully if maintained. It's lighter than treated lumber and more workable, making it a popular choice for contractors who want a premium natural look.
The workhorse of deck building. Treated lumber is reliable, familiar, and cost-effective for structural framing and decking boards alike. Properly maintained it lasts decades in Minnesota conditions.
We stock matching railing systems for composite and wood decks, along with hidden fastener clips, deck screws, joist hangers, post hardware, and flashing tape — everything to finish clean.
We stock composite boards, cedar, and pressure-treated decking in common deck dimensions. We also carry railing systems, hidden fasteners, deck screws, and structural hardware so you can pick up everything at once.
Composite decking handles freeze-thaw cycles very well because it doesn't absorb moisture. Properly treated cedar is also a solid natural option. The right answer depends on your budget, maintenance preferences, and how the deck is used — stop in and we'll talk through the tradeoffs.

Most decks attached to a home or above a certain height require a permit from your local building department. Requirements vary by county and municipality. We recommend confirming with your local authority before you start, and we're happy to help with material specs your inspector may ask for.
